Karene is an Associate in our Commercial Team, providing clear, practical legal advice across commercial, property, trusts, and estates matters. Her expertise includes commercial contracts, business sales and purchases, property transactions, asset planning, trusts, estate administration, and corporate structuring. She is developing a strong interest in supporting Māori business owners, iwi, and hapū entities, committed to embedding Kaupapa Māori principles into commercial work to help Māori businesses and whānau thrive.

Karene is a Director for the commercial arm of Te Uri o Hau Settlement Trust and the Presiding Member of the Board at St Joseph’s School. These governance roles reflect her dedication to strengthening Māori-led enterprise and fostering positive outcomes for tamariki and whānau in her community.

Raised in Poutō and of Ngāti Whātua descent, she continues to live in the Kaipara area and is proud to serve the community she grew up in. Outside of work, Karene enjoys spending time with family and friends and travelling.
